Ligia Bonetti Inspires Young People in the Northern Region

Ligia Bonetti, CEO of Grupo SID, was the keynote speaker at the Women Plus event, organized by Los Plus RD magazine. The event brought together business leaders, professionals, and young people from the Northern Region to reflect on leadership, purpose, and the challenges facing Dominican entrepreneurs.

The event, which drew over 200 young people to La Vega, highlighted the strategic importance of the Northern Region and, in particular, this province, which holds a significant place in Grupo SID’s operations as home to the Induveca plant, one of the group’s flagship companies and a major driver of employment and economic activity in the region.

During her presentation, Bonetti engaged in an open discussion about her professional career, her vision of leadership, and the lessons learned that have shaped her management of one of the country’s most important industrial conglomerates.

She also reflected on the role of the private sector in generating solutions to the country’s challenges, encouraging new generations to actively participate with concrete proposals. “Wherever you are, raise your voice, but do so with solutions. It’s very easy to criticize from the sidelines; the important thing is to get involved and contribute to building solutions.”

The executive also shared reflections on the beginnings of her career within the family business, highlighting that she never worked with the expectation of becoming CEO. “That allowed me to work without that visible pressure and focus on doing what I was truly passionate about until I excelled. I never compared myself to anyone; I simply followed my path and tried to give my best,” she explained.

Regarding female leadership, Bonetti emphasized that the true differentiator will always be talent, preparation, and the ability to generate value. She also encouraged women to recognize their strengths without seeing their identity as a limitation, but rather as an opportunity for complementarity within leadership.

“We must rid ourselves of the idea that being a woman is a weakness. Let’s embrace who we are. There are many qualities that differentiate us, and when men and women work together with respect and equal opportunities, better results are achieved.” At the close of the day, the CEO of Grupo SID received special recognition for her career and contributions to business leadership in the country. The award reaffirmed the themes addressed during her presentation, which focused on the importance of values in corporate management, the impact of sustainability on organizations and society, as well as personal habits and readings that have influenced her development as a leader.
