Type of Information Collected
The Websites collect information in various ways and for different purposes. For example, if the user chooses to register on any of the Websites to receive updates from GRUPO SID, to manage his account, and / or to use the self-service portal of GRUPO SID, he must provide contact information (name, address, telephone number, email address, a unique username, and password). GRUPO SID uses this information by its legitimate business interests to provide services and/or contact users about the services on the Websites in which it has expressed interest.
The Websites automatically collect technical information about users’ visits (such as browser type, Internet service provider, platform type, Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, referring/exit pages, operating system, and date/time stamp). GRUPO SID uses the information provided by users to improve the service offered, particularly to analyze trends, diagnose problems with the server and administer the Websites, track the movement and use of users, and gather broad demographic information—more information in the “Cookies and other Digital Markers” section below.
GRUPO SID uses the demographic information optionally provided by the user (such as business type, business size, locations, etc.) to understand the needs and interests of users and provide them with a personalized experience on the Websites, as well as to process orders, and allow participation in promotions (subject to the marketing preferences chosen by the user).
Phone calls between users and SID GROUP staff may be recorded for training and quality purposes, in which case, the user will be informed at the beginning of the call.
Likewise, GRUPO SID may record images of users through a CCTV system while they are in the centers where GRUPO SID has installed CCTV.
GRUPO SID does not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13 and does not direct the Websites to children under the age of 13.
Use of Information
GRUPO SID will use the information provided by users to improve the service offered, mainly to allow users to request products or services, request information or subscribe to marketing or support materials, provide personalized customer service, know users’ commercial preferences, complete statistics, and internal or external audits, among other legal uses.
GRUPO SID may also use users’ contact information to send them information about other products and services of GRUPO SID and its affiliated companies.
For registration and processing requests through the Websites, you must provide contact information (such as name, email, and shipping address) and financial information (such as credit card number, billing address, and expiration date).
The financial information collected will only be used for billing purposes for the products and services provided, as well as for payment processing and fraud prevention.
GRUPO SID will not disclose to third parties the information shared by users except when requested as a result of a court order, to assist in an investigation for law enforcement, or when disclosure is necessary to protect the systems, business or rights of GRUPO SID.
Once registered on the Site, GRUPO SID will email the user to verify their username and password, respond to user queries, and provide the services they request.
Subject to the marketing preferences for which the user chooses, GRUPO SID will also send information about new products, services, special savings, promotions and general information. If the user wishes to refrain from receiving this information, he can choose not to receive future emails.
Although GRUPO SID does not provide user information to its business partners, it may send users offers on behalf of its business partners.
Information Exchange and Cross-Border Transfers.
Users acknowledge that GRUPO SID regularly contracts external service providers to provide services and deliver products and solutions.
GRUPO SID may share users’ data with such third parties to enable the provision of services, delivery of products, and solutions requested by users. In addition, the information provided will also be shared internally by GRUPO SID personnel for data consolidation, storage, simplified management of customer information, reporting, and other internal uses (which may include a transfer outside the Dominican Republic). Users acknowledge that GRUPO SID automatically collects information through cookies and other digital markers.
Choices and Exclusion
Users will have the option of receiving a variety of information to complement the products and services provided by GRUPO SID, being able to subscribe to receive specific information about products and services and marketing communications from GRUPO SID.
The communications sent by GRUPO SID to users may include information about new products, special offers, or an invitation to participate in market research. Keeping your information safe
GRUPO SID does not guarantee the security of its servers. Users acknowledge that information provided by users through the Websites may be intercepted while being transmitted over the Internet. GRUPO SID ensures compliance with generally accepted industry technical standards to protect the personal data provided during transmission and after receipt.
Sensitive information received (such as credit card information) through registration or order forms is encrypted using secure socket layer technology.
Where we process personal information for marketing purposes or with your consent, we process the data until you ask us to stop and for a short period after that (to enable us to implement your requests). We also keep a record of the fact that you have asked us to refrain from sending you direct marketing or to process your data indefinitely so that we can respect your request in the future. When we process personal information in connection with the execution of a contract or the provision of a service, or for a promotion or contest, we keep the information for six (6) years from the last user interaction with GRUPO SID, except for financial information that we hold for ten (10) years or when there is a legal obligation to keep the information for a longer time.
