Grupo SID ranks among the most sustainable companies in the Dominican Republic

Reaching position #4 in the national ranking of Sustainable Expo, with an 85.7% sustainability rating.

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. – Grupo SID was recognized as one of the 15 most sustainable companies in the Dominican Republic, achieving the #4 position in the ranking “Companies Transforming the Dominican Republic 2026,” presented at Expo Sostenible 2026.

This ranking, developed based on the evaluation of more than 300 companies and grounded in the perception of business leaders, academia, civil society, and the general public, places Grupo SID at an 85.7% sustainability score, consolidating it as a benchmark in the integration of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria into its business model.

In this context, Grupo SID participated in the panel “Companies that Transform” at Expo Sostenible 2026, where Leyla Alfonso, Corporate Communications Director, shared the organization’s strategic vision in addressing sector challenges. “At Grupo SID, sustainability is not a parallel agenda; it is how we operate, grow, and generate well-being,” Alfonso stated.

This approach translates into concrete actions across the three pillars of sustainability. Environmentally, key initiatives include the implementation of four water treatment plants, the incorporation of solar energy, and the continuous optimization of industrial processes. These efforts are complemented by advances in the circular economy, such as the Induspalma model, where more than 13,000 tons of biomass are processed annually to generate thermal energy, reducing over 2,600 tons of CO₂ and strengthening energy self-sufficiency.

Additionally, the organization achieves over 82% solid waste management and promotes internal environmental programs such as ReforestaSID and beach cleanup initiatives, focused on ecosystem protection and reducing environmental impact.

On the social front, the group supports art, culture, and sports as pillars for community development and implements programs such as EducaSID, Inclúyeme SID, and Caminantes por la Vida, aimed at strengthening capabilities, promoting productive inclusion, and generating well-being.

EducaSID stands out as one of the organization’s main impact platforms, evolving into an innovative educational model that integrates in-person training with digital tools. Through this initiative, Grupo SID fosters the development of competencies from an early age, with milestones such as the launch of its digital educational platform on the Sustainable Development Goals, designed to make these topics accessible, dynamic, and aligned with today’s challenges.

Economically, Grupo SID has been recognized as an employer brand and has consolidated operations based on increasingly sustainable processes. This approach has enabled continuous, large-scale growth, reflected in more than 23 plants, 11 distribution centers, and exports to over 22 countries, driving iconic Dominican brands into international markets.

The ranking results also reflect a clear trend in the business environment: sustainability is becoming a strategic business axis, with 87% of respondents acknowledging progress in sustainable practices and 73% identifying their positive impact on society. This recognition is complemented by others, such as Cleaner Production awards, reinforcing Grupo SID’s commitment to continuous improvement and sustainable value creation in the country.
