Grupo SID and COOPAR Sign Agreement to Strengthen Road Safety Among Employees

The alliance will directly benefit more than 2,000 employees who use motorcycles, promoting a culture of prevention and safer mobility.

Santo Domingo.- As part of a comprehensive strategy to strengthen road safety and protect the lives of its employees, Grupo SID and the Pedro A. Rivera Savings, Credit and Multiple Services Cooperative (COOPAR) signed a collaboration agreement to facilitate access to certified protective helmets for the conglomerate’s personnel.

The agreement seeks to eliminate one of the main barriers to accessing quality protective equipment through a plan that combines up to six months of interest-free financing with the company’s support. The initiative will benefit more than 2,000 employees who use motorcycles as a means of transportation, who will also have the option to acquire an additional helmet, extending the benefits of the agreement and promoting safer driving habits.

“This initiative reflects Grupo SID’s ongoing commitment to promoting increasingly safe environments and driving preventive measures that protect the integrity of our people, recognizing that well-being begins with caring for individuals,” said Nieves Ramos, Corporate Director of Human Management.

For his part, the President of COOPAR’s Board of Directors, Juan Antonio Rosa Montaño, stated that this alliance reflects the cooperative’s social purpose by turning access to credit into a tool to protect lives, support family finances, and promote safer mobility among its members.

The signing of this agreement complements the efforts that Grupo SID, together with its companies MercaSID, Induveca, and Induspalma, has been carrying out to strengthen the safety of its personnel. The business conglomerate implemented the internal campaign “Suma Seguridad,” with an educational road safety initiative that impacted more than 5,000 employees through awareness, training, and communication actions focused on prevention, shared responsibility, and respect for traffic regulations.

This action proactively responds to a sensitive road safety reality and aligns with current road safety regulations. According to official reports, motorcycle users account for 70% of traffic accident fatalities in the Dominican Republic, placing the country among those with the highest road fatality rates globally.

In response to this reality, the World Health Organization (WHO) states that the proper use of a certified helmet reduces the risk of death by 40% and decreases the likelihood of serious injuries by approximately 60%.

Through this alliance, Grupo SID reaffirms its sustainable management model and its corporate mission of creating well-being, demonstrating that protecting its human capital is essential to its comprehensive development and that of Dominican society.
