Grupo SID Welcomes U.S. Ambassador and Reaffirms Its Commitment to International Expansion

Grupo SID received the official visit of the United States Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Mrs. Leah Francis Campos, in a meeting aimed at sharing the evolution and scope of an organization that has accompanied the productive development of the Dominican Republic.

During the tour of its facilities, the diplomat learned about the productive and logistics infrastructure that supports the group’s operations, as well as the capabilities that have enabled it to expand its presence to 22 countries.

“The United States has been a strategic partner in our growth journey. The results we have built over decades reflect a constant commitment to innovation, operational excellence, and the development of long-term relationships that create value for both countries,” said Ligia Bonetti, Executive President of Grupo SID.

With 89 years of history, Grupo SID has established itself as one of the most relevant industrial groups in the Dominican Republic. Comprised of MercaSID, Induveca, Induspalma, and Leones del Escogido, the group generates more than 5,400 direct jobs, markets over 1,900 SKUs, and connects a value chain involving more than 1,700 local and international suppliers. Its operating platform includes 20 manufacturing plants, 11 distribution centers, and more than 400 commercial routes, an infrastructure that supports its competitiveness and long-term growth vision.

The visit also provided an opportunity to highlight the strong relationship Grupo SID has built with the U.S. market. Currently, the organization has a presence in more than 1,200 points of sale across 14 U.S. states and territories, including more than 200 Walmart locations, and operates from U.S. territory for the production of Estelar Súper Especial Salami.

This binational commercial relationship, built over time, is also reflected in the strategic alliances Grupo SID maintains with leading global companies such as Kimberly-Clark, Kraft Heinz, General Mills, and Hershey’s, as well as with technology leaders such as Amazon, Microsoft, and Blue Yonder. Beyond commercial exchange, these collaborations promote innovation, accelerate digital transformation, raise operational standards, and strengthen the competitiveness of Dominican industry.

The meeting allowed for an exchange of perspectives on the opportunities offered by the economic relationship between the Dominican Republic and the United States, as well as on the role of innovation, investment, and competitiveness in strengthening both markets.

The visit included the participation of Ligia Bonetti, José Miguel Bonetti Guerra, Roberto Bonetti Guerra, Mónica Armenteros, Rodrigo Vitienes, Juan Vicini, and other shareholders and executives of Grupo SID, who shared the organization’s vision, history, and contribution to the country’s economic and social development.

The Ambassador was accompanied by representatives from the Agriculture areas of the United States Embassy in the Dominican Republic, reinforcing the shared interest in continuing to strengthen commercial and cooperation ties between both nations.
