Grupo SID holds a Children’s Fair on the SDGs

To raise awareness about the relevance of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Grupo SID business conglomerate has inaugurated the Children’s Fair “Exploring the SDGs for a sustainable world”, an event aimed at the children’s educational community, designed to provide an educational, interactive, and playful experience.

The Fair, which takes place at the El Manicero Club from September 16 to 21, has 17 stands, one dedicated to each SDG, which offers dynamic experiences to educate playfully about the social, environmental, and economic dimensions of the SDGs.

This initiative was born from Grupo SID’s EducaSID program, as a continuation of the efforts made last year with the delivery of the book “Frieda and the Sustainable Development Goals”, a publication of the United Nations Organization (UN), distributed by Grupo SID to more than 7,000 children in 2023. Seeing the interest expressed by children and teachers motivated the business conglomerate to continue promoting a culture of sustainability from an early age, which is why they have proposed to promote knowledge of the SDGs beyond the schools they sponsor, fostering an open space where children from different educational centers can converge.
Ligia Bonetti, Executive President of Grupo SID, said: “At Grupo SID, we firmly believe that education is the basis for building a more fair and sustainable future. With this Fair, we seek to inspire the little ones to be agents of change, teaching them, in a fun and interactive way, how their daily actions can have a positive impact on our planet.”

The Fair is expected to receive more than 2,000 children from educational centers sponsored by Grupo SID, schools and colleges that surround the plants and centers of Santo Domingo, who will have the opportunity to enjoy workshops, games, exhibitions, tastings, gifts, and other activities that will be carried out within the framework of the event.

Likewise, Nieves Ramos, Corporate Director of Human Resources, pointed out “When we educate a child about the SDGs, we are educating a family, a community, and an entire generation that will carry these values with them forever. So every boy and girl who visits this Fair will enter the world of Frieda’s book, taking another step towards a more equitable, sustainable, and fair future.”

This activity is not only an opportunity for children to have fun but also to discover how daily actions can contribute to achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, established on September 25, 2015, to eradicate poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all as part of the Sustainable Development Goals. a new sustainable development agenda.
