ONU AND GRUPO SID PROMOTE EDUCATION ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT UNDER THE EDUCASID PROGRAM

The United Nations Organization (ONU) and Grupo SID, a business conglomerate with more than 86 years of experience, agreed to produce for free distribution the book Frieda, a UN publication, to promote a culture of sustainability from an early age.

In a recent ceremony, the executive president of Grupo SID, Ligia Bonetti, presented a symbolic copy of the book to the UN resident representative, Mauricio Ramírez, highlighting that “EducaSID is a purpose that we embrace and every year we work to expand its reach, aware of its impact on the development of our country.”

Mauricio Ramírez, resident representative of the ONU, stated: “Actions such as those undertaken and led by the Grupo SID give us hope and show us their commitment to advance the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.”

Ramírez congratulated Grupo SID for assuming sustainability as the central axis of its business strategy and said he hopes “that the story of FRIEDA inspires these young students to act and transform the country and the world towards a more humane, inclusive, resilient planet. and sustainable, without leaving anyone behind.”

“I take this moment – Mrs. Bonetti added – to thank the United Nations Organization for supporting our initiative to disseminate “Frieda,” with which we will promote knowledge in the classrooms about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), goals that represent our shared dreams of a better, fairer and more inclusive world.

The book will be distributed in more than 15 schools that Grupo SID supports and will also be given to the children of the company’s employees. Additionally, the EducaSID program will include activities such as storytelling and talks about science, environmental responsibility, and disaster prevention.

The event was also attended by Mrs. Inka Mattila, resident representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in the Dominican Republic, among other personalities.

FUTURE STEPS
The EducaSID program will continue to collaborate closely with schools to highlight the importance of sustainable development through educational talks, scholarships, and donations of school supplies, among others.

EducaSID covers an extensive training program that includes different learning strategies, maintaining the purpose of continuing to leave a mark that transcends its history, which is why they are assuming a serious and responsible commitment to the country’s education.
